Elizabethton softball runs past HV

Elizabethton used a strong second inning to pull away and never looked back.

The Lady Cyclones picked up a 19-4 victory over Happy Valley in Three Rivers action on Wednesday.


Happy Valley struck first in the game as Kaitlyn Roberts, Emily Whitaker and Lilly Runningcrane crossed home plate in the top of the first. Elizabethton answered with four runs in the home side of the frame as Abbi McKinney, Lauren Brickey, Jessica Cunningham, and Haley Fair crossed the plate.

After a scoreless top of the second, the Lady Cyclone bats came alive for 10 runs – including a three-run homerun from Brickey. That gave EHS a 14-3 lead going into the third. From there, it was all Elizabethton.

Brickey went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, while Maci West also had 4 RBIs with a 2-for-3 performance. Allison Riddle was 3-for-3. McKinney finished 2-for-4.

In the pitching circle, Brickey picked up the win as she threw a no-hitter in three innings of work. Kelli Cunningham had two earned runs on three hits.

Roberts led the Lady Warriors with a 2-for-3 performance. Makala Hughes, Whitaker, and Runningcrane had hits.
