Elizabethton was on a mission on Saturday at Cardinal Park.

The Cyclones rolled to a 14-0 victory over Sullivan East in the District 1-AA Baseball Tournament. With the win, Elizabethton advanced to take on Unicoi County in the winner’s bracket final on Monday evening. The Blue Devils defeated Sullivan Central 5-0 on Saturday.

EHS scored early and often on Saturday.

In the top of the first, the Cyclones saw Evan Carter hit a double to left field that plated Ethan Eggleston and Ryan Wetzel, and Logan Estep added a run in the second with a solo homerun over the left field fence.

The Elizabethton bats came alive in the third. EHS plated eight runs in the frame to take an 11-0 advantage.

In the fourth, Nick Johnson scored off a wild pitch before Carter knocked in two more runs to give EHS a 14-0 margin. The Cyclones retired the side in both the fourth and fifth innings in order to secure the shutout win.

Matthew Dailey and Eggleston both had three hits for EHS, while Carter ad Estep added two more apiece.

Carter finished with five RBI.

On the mound, Carter earned the win in three innings of work as he allowed just two hits. Dailey pitched a strong two relief innings as he didn’t give up a hit. In all, Elizabethton only threw 64 pitches in the five-inning game.
