Elizabethton takes two from Happy Valley

The first half was a back and forth battle. However, Emily Kiser took control for the Lady Cyclones.

Kiser scored 14 consecutive points to give Elizabethton some breathing room and power the way to a 71-51 victory over Happy Valley on Friday night.

In the boys’ game, the Cyclones rolled to a 71-43 victory over the Warriors.

In the varsity opener, Kenzie Davis and Emily Whitaker hit big shots to push HV to a 15-10 lead over the Lady Cyclones in the first quarter. Late in the second quarter, Kelci Marosites along with sister Kayla Marosites got warmed up as EHS held a 35-30 advantage at the half.

Kiser took over the game in the third quarter to push the lead to 15 points, and the Lady Cyclones kept Happy Valley at bay in the fourth to secure the win.

Kiser finished with an impressive 24 points to lead all scorers, while Ka. and Ke. Marosites tallied 15 points apiece.

Kalee Johnson led HV with 12 points. Kenzie Davis and Emily Whitaker added nine points apiece.

In the nightcap, the Cyclones jumped out to a 15-8 first quarter lead, and then doubled up the Warriors in the second to take a 37-19 advantage at the half. The Warriors were unable to close the gap in the third quarter as EHS added two points to the lead. Elizabethton outscored HV 21-13 in the final quarter.

Michael Robinson recorded 21 points to lead all scorers, while Bo Pless added 15 points. Jalen Smith added 12 points.

Josh Hammonds led HV with 10 points, and Nathan Kyte and Chris Young scored nine and eight points, respectively.
