Elizabethton is back in a familiar spot.
The defending Class 4A state champion Cyclones were ranked No. 1 in the Class 4A AP poll.
Elizabethton received 12-of-14 first-place votes after dispatching Science Hill in the season-opening contest Friday night. EHS tallied 132 points in the poll.
Anderson County was ranked No. 2 in the poll, while Hardin County and Greeneville – who both received a first-place vote – were ranked No. 3 and No. 4. Marshall County rounded out the top five in the poll.
Elizabethton is set to host Sullivan East on Friday night.
In the Class 2A poll, Hampton received votes but was not ranked inside the top 10.
The Bulldogs are set to open to the season on Friday night against Unicoi County.
Kickoff for both games is slated for 7:30p.
