ETSU redshirt-sophomore running back Quay Holmes (Powder Springs, Ga.) has been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Performer of the Year Trophy Preseason Watch List, which was announced by the CFPA committee on Tuesday morning.

Holmes is one of 40 players across the FCS level to be placed on the list, with the award winner being announced on Jan. 15, 2020. Holmes is also one of only two Southern Conference players on the watch list, joined by Western Carolina’s Tyrie Adams.

In 2018, Holmes became just the fourth Buccaneer in program history to earn the honor of SoCon Freshman of the Year, the first since Todd Wells in 1997. Holmes was named to a pair of postseason All-American squads as well as the First Team All-SoCon Offense. The Georgia native was tabbed to the midseason CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy Watch List a season ago.

Holmes rushed for 928 yards and 13 touchdowns on 205 attempts. The sophomore tailback finished first in the SoCon in rushing touchdowns, second in all-purpose yards (1,480) and third in rushing yards (928). Holmes is only the third player in ETSU history to rush for over 10 touchdowns in a single season.
