Former Cyclone Standout Morton Named NAIA Defensive National Player of the Week



A former Cyclones is received national honors on Monday.

Former Elizabethton standout Deuce Morton has been named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week after he led the University of Pikeville to a decisive defensive performance on Saturday.

Against Webber International (Fla.), the freshman tallied eight tackles, one pass breakup, and a 90-yard pick-six.

Morton was also named the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division Player of the Week on Monday.

So far in his freshman campaign, Morton is averaging 8.5 tackles per game.
