Girls Thursday Round-up: Henegar’s record breaking day leads HV to victory

Happy Valley 53, Cross (SC) 23 (girls)
Adrienne Henegar had herself a record breaking night on Thursday in Charleston.

The senior hit a school record nine 3-pointers along with 36 points to lead HV to a win in their first game at the Carolina Invitational in Charleston.

HV jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the first quarter, and maintained a 20-13 advantage at the break. In the third quarter, Henegar got warmed up as she tallied 14 points in the stanza along and Tiana Long scored five points in the frame as Happy Valley held a 42-18 lead going to the fourth.

Long finished with five points, while Shalyn Whitson added four points.

Atlantic (FL) 52, Elizabethton 46 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones were unable to rally in their first game at the Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic.

EHS saw Atlantic open up a 15-12 lead in the first quarter, and extended it to 26-19 at the break. EHS saw Morgan Headrick and Kaylen Shell along with Cheyenne VanHuss hit shots in the third quarter, but they were unable to cut into the lead during the second half.

Shell led the way with 16 points, while Headrick scored 14 points. McKendra Norris had nine points.

Red Boiling Springs 50, Unaka 33 (girls)
The Lady Rangers saw Red Boiling Springs take control in the third quarter in the first game of the Sgt. York Southeastern Christmas Invitational at York Institute.

Unaka trailed 10-6 at the end of the first quarter and saw RBS extended the advantage to six points at the half.

The Lady Rangers was unable to solve the RBS defense as they were outscored 21-9 in the third quarter. Unaka continued to battle, but was unable to close the gap in the fourth quarter.

Myah Parlier had 14 points to lead Unaka.

Hampton 43, Coahula Creek (GA) 38 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs picked up a win on the opening day of the Cleveland Christmas Classic in Cleveland, TN.
