Hampton made it look easy on Friday night.

The Bulldogs jumped out early and never looked back en route to a 59-20 victory over South Greene on Friday night on Rebel Hill.

Adam McClain led the way with three touchdowns and 113 yards on seven carries, while Hunter Davenport had three carries for 73 yards.

Hampton opened the game strong by scoring on their first seven possessions of the game.

The Bulldogs scored on the game’s first offensive play as Davenport scored on a 62-yard run. HHS added a 51-yard TD pass from Jason Russell to Chris Holtsclaw and a McClain 3-yard score to take a 20-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

Scores by Davenport and McClain pushed the lead to 39-0 at the end of the first.

After McClain scored on a 54-yard run to open the second quarter, South Greene used a lengthy drive to get on the board. The Bulldogs, however, answered in the final minute as Jason Russell hit Davenport for an 86-yard touchdown pass.

In the second half, South Greene methodically marched down the field on a six-minute drive to open the third quarter. However, the Bulldogs stopped the drive on fourth down. The Rebels defense forced a Hampton punt to end the third quarter.

The opening minutes of the fourth quarter saw South Greene’s Nathan Hall escape for a 47-yard run to set-up the Rebel score. Jonathan Butcher ran to the right side for a seven-yard scamper, and Jake Standridge added the extra point.

Hampton answered with a Lane Potter touchdown. Hall capped off the scoring with a 67-yard  touchdown run as time expired.

Russell finished the game 3-of-6 passing for 151 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 36 yards on the ground.
