The Milligan College women’s volleyball team defeated Bluefield College Tuesday night in three sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-21) to sweep the regular season series against the Rams.

The Buffs came out quick in the first two sets defeating the Rams by nine in each set. In the third set the Rams were in the lead with the score being 20-18 before the Buffaloes went on a run and defeated them to win the final set and the match.

Alyssa Gibson led the Buffs offensive front with 11 kills on the night with Julia Codispoti and Julie Dockery closely behind her with eight kills a piece. Kellee Geren had 34 assists, and Layla Grant led the defense with 18 digs. The Buffs had a hitting percentage in the first set of .417 and .382 in the second. Milligan out killed Bluefield 41-29.

With Tuesday’s win the Buffs advance to 12-4 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and sit at second place in the North Division of the conference. Up next, the Buffs travel to Columbia International University for another AAC matchup on Friday, Oct. 25. After that Milligan will only have three regular season games left before the AAC tournament begins.
