Hampton was unable to keep pace with a torrid offensive attack on Thursday night.

The Lady Bulldogs fell 61-33 to defending state champion South Greene in the Region 1-A Girls Championship game at Chuckey-Doak High School. Hampton will look to try and punch a ticket to Murfreesboro on Saturday at Oneida.

The Lady Bulldogs saw South Greene start quickly.

Taylor Lamb and company ran out to a 9-0 lead before Megan Garland put the Lady Bulldogs on the board. A Hope Bridgeman trey along with five Shy Tuelle points pulled Hampton within six points. The Lady Rebels, however, scored four straight to take a 21-12 lead into the second quarter.

After SG opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run, Bridgeman knocked down a pair of shots. However, Hampton was unable to close the gap as the Lady Rebels held a 32-18 advantage going into the locker room at the half.

Alexus Grubbs and Garland hit shots to get the Hampton offense started in the second half, but the Lady Rebels pushed the lead to 22 points at the end of the quarter. The Lady Bulldogs kept fighting but was unable to dig into the deficit.

Bridgeman led Hampton with 11 points. Garland tallied nine points, while Tuelle had seven points. Kinzey Hill recorded three points.
