Elizabethton was a determined group on Wednesday night.
The Lady Cyclones pulled away in the fourth quarter to take a 79-65 victory over Greeneville in the Region 1-3A Championship in Greeneville.
With the win, Elizabethton will host a sectional game against Northview Academy on Saturday night.
Olivia Holly set the tone early for Elizabethton as she hit four 3-pointers in the opening quarter. The Lady Cyclones went on a 9-0 run to end the quarter to take a 28-17 advantage into the second quarter.
Elizabethton continued the run in the second as they scored the first five points of the quarter to push the lead to 14 points.
However, Greeneville was able to trim the lead to five points as EHS maintained a 38-33 halftime lead.
The game continued to be a tight battle in the third quarter.
Greeneville used a run to open the frame to even things up at 38-38, but EHS answered with a run of their own to push the lead back out.
Greeneville pulled back within a point, and Elizabethton held a slim 53-50 lead after three complete quarters.
The Lady Cyclones, however, took care of business when it mattered most.
Lina Lyon scored 14 points in the final eight minutes as Elizabethton scored often to take a 67-56 lead with just over three minutes left to play.
From there, EHS kept their foot on the gas to secure the win.
Lyon finished with 25 points to pace Elizabethton, and was named the tournament MVP. Renna Lane and Holly had 20 and 18 points, respectively.
Marlee Mathena had eight points.
Lauren Bailey led Greeneville with 19 points.
