Lady Cyclones cruise past Unicoi

Elizabethton hit the gas and never looked back on Monday night.

The Lady Cyclones raced to a 70-37 victory over Unicoi County in the District 1-AA Consolation game inside Treadway Gymnasuium.

Elizabethton will enter the Region 1-AA tournament as a No. 3 seed, and will travel to South Greene on Friday night for the quarterfinals.

After Unicoi held a 13-11 lead after a quarter of play, the Lady Cyclones took over.

Renna Lane scored nine points in the second stanza to set the tone and the Lady Cyclones outscored Unicoi 18-9 in the frame to take a 29-22 lead at the break.

The Elizabethton defense limited Unicoi to just five points in the third quarter while six Lady Cyclones hit the scorebook as EHS increased their lead to 21 points heading to the final quarter.

From there, EHS hit cruise control to the end.

Lina Lyon had 19 points to lead Elizabethton, while Lane finished with 17 points. Olivia Holly tossed in 11 points.

Morgan Headrick finished the night with nine points.

Caroline Podvin led Unicoi County with 10 points.
