Elizabethton dropped a heartbreaker on Monday.

The Lady Cyclones were unable to answer a late offensive burst from Unicoi County in a 10-5 decision in the winner’s bracket final in Elizabethton.

With the loss, EHS falls into the losers’ bracket and will take on the winner of the Sullivan East/Johnson County game at 5p on Tuesday at Elizabethton in an elimination game.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Cyclones struck first as Kallista Deprimo scored after Kenidy Haris put the ball in play in the bottom of the second.

Elizabethton pushed the lead to 2-0 in the home side of the third as Ember Jensen hit a double to drive Maely Ingram across home plate to give EHS a 2-0 lead after three innings of play.

Unicoi got a run back in the top of the fourth and took a lead in the fifth with seven runs to take an 8-2 lead.

Elizabethton, however, battled back as Madisun Pritchard and Jensen hit back-to-back home runs to cut into the Unicoi lead.

After the Lady Blue Devils added a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, Mollie Johnson scored off a Harris single in the bottom of the frame, but EHS was unable to rally past Unicoi.

Harris finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Jensen was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Cheyenne Poiroux, Emma O’Quinn, Johnson, Deprimo, Pritchard, and Ingram each added a hit.

Pritchard struck out five batters in just under five innings of work.
