Elizabethton dropped a heartbreaker in the District 1-3A Championship game.

The Lady Cyclones saw Tennessee High use a walk-off grand slam to take an 11-7 victory in the 10th inning at Sullivan East.

Elizabethton is set to travel to Greeneville on Monday for a Region 1-3A semifinal.

EHS had to battle back in the early going.

The Lady Vikings plated two runs in the first, two more in the second, and three in the third to take a 7-0 after three complete innings.

Elizabethton, however, wasn’t going down without a fight.

In the top of the fourth, Maddie O’Quinn, Ember Jensen and Kenidy Harris hit singles to load the bases with no out. O’Quinn scored off a Madisun Pritchard sacrifice fly, while Mollie Johnson hit a single to plate Jensen.

The inning continued as Emma O’Quinn hit a single that plated two runs. Maely Ingram drove in Cheyene Poiroux with a single, and the Lady Cyclones tied the game when M. O’Quinn hit a double to center field that scored E. O’Quinn and Ingram.

The game took a defensive battle tone as neither team was able to drive a run across the plate.

In the top of the eighth, Johnson hit a triple to open the inning, but EHS was unable to plate the run as Tennessee High was able to tag Johnson at the plate.

The bottom of the eighth saw the Lady Vikings get two runners on with no outs, but a strikeout, ground out and fly out sent the game to the ninth where both teams went three-up and three-down.

With the international tiebreaker rules in effect, Elizabethton was unable to move the runner from second.

The Lady Vikings, however, finally broke through as Macy Shouth hit a grandslam to take the win.

Johnson led the Lady Cyclones as she went 3-for-5, while M. O;Quinn, Jensen, Harris, and Poiroux had two hits apiece.
