With their backs against the wall, the Elizabethton softball rose to the occasion.

The Lady Cyclones scored five unanswered runs over the last three innings to take a 5-3 lead over Unicoi County on Tuesday in Erwin.

After the first scoreless first three and a half innings, the Lady Blue Devils put three runs on the board in the homeside of the fourth. Elizabethton put a run on the board in the top of the fifth as Maci West scored on an Allison Riddle sac fly, and Lauren Brickey hit a homerun in the next inning to close the gap to 3-2 entering the final inning.

Autumn Hensley and Kaylin Shell pushed Elizabethton into the lead on a Lady Blue Devil error. In the next at-bat, Abbi McKinney hit a double to score Riddle to give EHS a 5-3 advantage. The Lady Cyclone defense held Unicoi to take the win.

Jessica Cunningham went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Riddle, Brickey, West and McKinney all added hits.

Brickey picked up the win in the circle as she allowed just three unearned runs on six hits while striking out six Lady Blue Devils. Kellie Cunningham picked up a save.
