Lady Cyclones take win, EHS boys fall in Saturday action



Elizabethton 48, Webb 38 (Girls)
The Elizabethton girls picked up a 48-38 victory over Webb in the 5-Star Classic in Knoxville.

The Lady Cyclones saw Kaylen Shell score six points in the opening quarter to help power EHS to a 17-14 lead, and McKendra Norris scored five points in the second stanza as Elizabethton maintained a 26-22 lead at the half.

The balanced approached continued in the third quarter for the Lady Cyclones as Lina Lyon hit a pair of key shots as EHS took a double-digit lead into the final eight minutes.

From there, Elizabethton was able to hold on for the win.

Lyon had nine points to lead Elizabethton, while Norris and Shell finished with eight points apiece. Kelsie Winters, Morgan Headrick and Kaitlin Bailey had six points each.

Alvin C. York 71, Elizabethton 59 (boys)
For the Elizabethton boys, the Cyclones were unable to rally late against Alvin C. York Institute in a 71-59 decision at the Stone Memorial Holiday tournament.

Elizabethton saw Nico Ashley tally 27 points to lead the way. William Willocks had 10 points for the Elizabethton cause, while Jordan Haynes tallied nine points – on 3-pointers – for EHS.
