The Lady Cyclones took care of business on Tuesday night.
Elizabethton clinched a berth in the District 1-AA Championship game with a 6-2 win over Johnson County in the losers bracket final.
EHS will host Unicoi at 5p on Wednesday with the if-necessary game slated for 7p. With the win, Elizabethton also clinched a berth in next week’s Region 1-AA tournament.
EHS set the tone early.
Kallista Deprimo hit a double to left field with two outs in the bottom of the first to drive Maddie O’Quinn and Ember Jensen across home plate.
After Mollie Johnson got on base with a single in the next at-bat, Kenidy Harris hit a single to right field that brought Deprimo and Johnson across the plate to give EHS a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Neither team was able to get back onto the board until the bottom of the fifth as Madisun Pritchard hit a home run over the left-field fence that also scored Jensen.
Johnson County plated two runs in the top of the seventh, but Elizabethton held on for the win.
Jensen was 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the way for the Orange and Black. Pritchard, Harris, and Deprimo each had two RBI.
In the pitching circle, Pritchard struck out seven batters while allowed two unearned runs on five hits.
