Elizabethton was on a mission Thursday night.

The Lady Cyclones picked up two wins over Unicoi County to claim the District 1-AA Championship. Elizabethton won the first game 6-0 to force an if-necessary game and then kept the bats hot in a 10-3 victory to claim the title.

EHS will host a Region 1-A semifinal on Monday afternoon.

In the first game, Elizabethton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Emma O’Quinn hit a hard single to centerfield that saw Kenidy Harris and Cheyenne Poiroux cross home plate.

The Lady Cyclones added a run in the third as Kallista Deprimo hit a sac fly that scored Maddie O’Quinn to give EHS a 3-0 lead after three complete innings.

Poiroux added a run to the Elizabethton tally in the fourth with a solo home run over the left-field fence, and Madisun Pritchard left no doubt in the bottom of the fifth as she launched a home run over the left-field fence to also score Ember Jensen.

Poiroux tallied two hits, while Pritchard and E. O’Quinn had two RBI apiece.

In the circle, Pritchard was dominant as she allowed just five hits and struck out 12 Unicoi batters.

The second game saw Elizabethton continue to keep the momentum on their side.

After the Lady Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, EHS countered when Maely Ingram scored off a M. O’Quinn fielder’s choice after Ingram got on base with a triple.

Harris pushed Elizabethton into the lead in the bottom of the second as she hit a two-run home run over the center-field fence that also brought Mollie Johnson across home plate.

Unicoi got a couple of runs back in the top side of the fourth to close the gap to 4-3. However, the Orange and Black added three runs in the home frame of the inning to take control and never looked back to roll to the district title.

Harris finished the game 4-for-4 with three RBI, while M. O’Quinn was 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Ingram added two hits and two RBI, while E. O’Quinn added two hits for the Lady Cyclones.

Pritchard recorded six strikeouts and held the Lady Blue Devils to just one earned run on five hits.
