The Lady Rangers continued their hot start on Saturday night.

Unaka picked up a 44-23 victory over Cosby. The Rangers, however, were unable to hold onto an early lead as they fell 90-77 to the Eagles.

In the girls’ game, Sarah Tipton and Hannah Tipton hit 3-pointers to help push the Lady Rangers to a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, and Unaka moved that to 22-14 at the half.

The Lady Rangers created some breathing room in the third quarter, and then left no doubt by outscoring Cosby 19-4 in the final quarter.

H. Tipton led the way with 14 points, while S. Tipton had eight points. Katlyn Burrows and Lexi Garland had six and five points, respectively.

In the boys’ game, the Rangers pushed out to an early 18-9 lead, but Cosby answered back to tie the game at 26 heading to the second quarter. A 10-0 Ranger run in the second quarter pushed the lead back to seven points. However, Cosby answered with a run of their own to tie the game at 44 at the break.

However, the Eagles had the answers in the second half by taking a 10-point lead during the third quarter, and holding off the Rangers in the final quarter.

Kyler Lewis tallied 23 points to lead Unaka, while Joe Searfoss and Colton Chambers had 22 points apiece.
