The Lady Warriors turned up the defense in a big way.

Happy Valley allowed just 11 first-half points and rolled to a 41-28 victory over West Greene to earn a spot in the District 1-2A Championship game on Thursday night at Daniel Boone High School.

The Lady Warriors will face off against South Greene with the title on the line on Monday at 7:30p with the game being played at Daniel Boone.

The win also secured Happy Valley a home game for the Region 1-2A quarterfinals.

The Lady Warriors set the tone early.

Happy Valley opened the game with a 9-0 run – six of those points coming from Scarlett Zeoli. West Greene got on the board with a pair of 3-pointers, but HV maintained an 11-6 lead after a quarter of play.

Points were hard to come by in the second quarter.

West Greene closed the gap to three points midway through the stanza, but Kenzie Ramey and Kadie Bailey pushed the Lady Warrior lead back out.

HV led 20-11 at the break.

Happy Valley continued to limit the West Greene offense – including holding them scoreless for the final five minutes of the third quarter – to take a 26-16 lead into the final quarter.

West Greene made one last run in the fourth quarter, but HV answered and secured the win at the free-throw line down the stretch.

Ramey had 14 points to lead Happy Valley, while Holly Moore, Marcida Moore, and Zeoli added eight points apiece.
