The Hampton boys and Happy Valley girls took care of business on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs picked up a 60-48 victory over the Warriors on Warrior Hill in non conference action, while the Lady Warriors rolled to a 54-30 victory over Hampton.

In the girls’ game, it took a bit for the offenses to get going.

Bailey Bell scored seven first-quarter points to push HV to a 14-6 advantage, while Shalyn Whitson helped the Lady Warrior increase the lead to 33-18 at the half with a strong performance in the second stanza.

Stephanie Campbell and Leeanne Guinn hit shots in the third quarter to try and get the Hampton offensive attack cranking, but the Lady Warriors defense prevented a rally as HV maintained a 43-23 lead after three complete quarters. From there, HV maintained the advantage for the win.

Tianna Long and Whitson had 13 points apiece to lead all scorers, while Henegar had 12 points. Bell finished with seven points.

For Hampton, Campbell tallied 11 points, while Guinn added seven points.

In the boys’ contest, the first half was a game of runs.

After neither team was able to get much separation in the opening minutes, Hampton used a late first quarter run to take a 19-12 advantage to the second quarter. The Bulldogs pushed the lead to double-digits in the second quarter, but Happy Valley used a late run in the second quarter to close the game back to seven points at the half.

The Bulldogs, however, seized control in the second half.

Hampton outscored the Warriors 17-10 in the third quarter to push the lead to double-digits entering the fourth quarter, and never looked back.

Jordan Bentley had 19 points to lead Hampton, while Izack Hill had nine points. Jonah Jones added eight points to the Bulldog cause.

HV was paced by Bryce Carter’s 18 points. James Harmon tossed in 14 points.
