The Bulldogs started slow, but finished strong on Friday night.

Hampton outscored Sullivan North 28-8 in the second half as the Bulldogs ran to a 60-29 victory over the region foe in Kingsport on Friday night.

Senior Adam McClain had 339 yards on 26 carries to power the Bulldogs.

However, it took Hampton two quarters to get going.

Sullivan North struck first when JJ Fleenor scored on a 36-yard scamper. Hampton answered as McClain broke free for a 43-yard run, but the conversion attempt came up short as SN held a 7-6 advantage.

McClain pushed Hampton into the lead after the HHS defense recorded a stop on fourth down as the senior running back scored on a 65-yard touchdown. Hunter Davenport added the conversion as HHS held a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Fleenor tied things up with a 5-yard touchdown run, and then caught a 74-yard pass from Peyton Robinson to give the Raiders the lead. McClain’s third touchdown of the night along with the conversion gave Hampton a 22-21 lead at the half.

In the second half, it was all Hampton.

McClain opened the third-quarter scoring with a 27-yard run, and Davenport scored on an 85-yard touchdown to push the Hampton lead to double-digits. The Bulldogs maintained a 36-21 lead at the end of the third.

Fleenor cut the Bulldog lead to seven points to open the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jason Russell, however, answered with a touchdown for Hampton, and Davenport scored on a five-yard run to secure the win for Hampton.

Davenport added 127 yards on nine carries.
