Monday Round-up: Bulldogs, Cyclones cruise to wins

Hampton 78, Chuckey Doak 52 (boys)
The Bulldogs hit the gas pedal early and never looked back.

Morgan Lyons scored 19 points to lead Hampton to a nonconference victory on Monday night.

Lyons scored nine first-quarter points as the Bulldogs took a 21-10 lead after eight minutes of play. Joseph Jenkins scored 11 points in the second quarter – including three 3-pointers – as Hampton stretched the lead to 43-20 at the break.

From there, Hampton used a balanced attack to keep the Black Knights at bay.

Jenkins finished with 12 points, while Parker Henry had 10 points. Conor Burleson scored eight points.


Elizabethton 67, Seymour 38 (boys)
The Cyclones left no doubt in the fourth quarter.

Elizabethton outscored Seymour 23-5 in the final

eight minutes to pull away for the win at the Maryville Heritage Christmas tournament.

After the Cyclones held a 12-10 lead after a quarter of play, Elizabethton pushed the lead to 31-20 at the half.

Jake Roberts had 19 points to lead the way for EHS, while Braden Phillips had 16 points.

William Willocks had 13 points for the Cyclones.
