Cloudland 23, University High 4 (softball)
The Lady ‘Landers left no doubt.
Cloudland used two seven-running innings and rolled to a district win on Monday afternoon.
Krisi Bare and Jasmine Birchfield had four hits apiece with three RBI, while Taylor Hicks added three hits.
Marley Hughes and Ryan Turbyfill had two hits each.
In the pitching circle, Karah Fields allowed just four earned run on three hits to pick up the win. Kendall Birchfield had a strong showing in relief work as she allowed just one hit in two innings of work.
Sullivan Central 6, Happy Valley 3 (softball)
The Lady Warriors came up short in a Three Rivers clash on Monday.
Central jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning, but HV got a run back in the bottom of the second. After the Lady Cougars added three runs in the third, HV plated a run in the home side of the frame and another in the sixth but was unable to rally past Central.
Reagan Street and Allie Grindstaff had two hits apiece, while Laura Rice, Abby Holt, and Alleah Grindstaff each added a hit.
In the pitching circle, Holt allowed just one earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts.
Elizabethton 4, Cherokee 0 (softball)
Elizabethton used a dominant pitching performance to take a nonconference win on Monday.
Madisun Pritchard allowed just three hits in a complete-game effort with six strikeouts.
At the plate, Mailey Ingram went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Emma O’Quinn had three RBI.
Happy Valley 5, Sullivan East 2 (baseball)
The Warriors handed Coach Todd Caldwell his first career win as a coach on Monday.
The Warriors struck first with all five runs in the first inning and then held off the Patriots for the win.
Tucker Shoun went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Eli Ayers pitched a gem of a game on the mound.
Ayers recorded eight strikeouts while allowing just two earned runs on two hits.
North Greene 2, Hampton 0 (baseball)
The Bulldogs dropped a road thriller on Monday.
Hampton was unable to break on the board despite scoring chances in multiple innings.
Chance Point was 3-for-3, while Morgan Lyons added two hits.
Josh Owens allowed just one earned run on five hits in four innings of work and he struck out four NG batters.
Unicoi County 4, Elizabethton 2 (baseball)
The Cyclones were unable to edge ahead in the final innings on Monday night.
Unicoi took a 2-1 lead after the fifth inning but plated two runs in the sixth to secure the win.
Cade Russell was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Cyclones, while six Cyclones recorded a single hit. Bryson Rollins had a triple, while Gage Treadway had a double.
In just over five innings of work, Ashton Wilson allowed just two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Elijah Birdosn allowed one hit in just over an inning of relief work.
