The Lady Cyclones picked up a key district win on Tuesday afternoon.
Elizabethton edged ahead to take a 3-0 victory over Unicoi County with a strong pitching performance from senior Lauren Brickey.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Cyclones took a 1-0 lead in the home side of the second as Hannah Edwards crossed the plate on an error after Kaylin Shell made contact.
Neither team was unable to get anything else going offensively until EHS struck again in the bottom of the sixth.
Edwards pushed Brickey across home plate, and Maci West scored on a Haley Fair hit to give EHS a 3-0 lead going to the final inning. Unicoi County saw the tying run get on base, but a Brickey strikeout ended the game.
West and Edwards were both 2-for-3 for EHS, while Kellie Cunningham, Shell, Fair and Brickey added a hit apiece.
In the circle, Brickey pitched a one-hitter to carry the Lady Cyclones to the win. Brickey allowed just one hit in a complete game effort.
