With the final week of the high school season amongst us, there are still some teams looking to solidify their postseason position.
In Region 1-2A, all eyes will be on the South Greene-Happy Valley game.
If the Warriors take the victory, Happy Valley will capture the No. 1 seed with Hampton taking the No. 2 spot. A HV win would slot SG as the No. 3 and Sullivan North as the No. 4.
A South Greene win along with a Hampton win over Cosby will give the Bulldogs the top seed, the Rebels the No. 2 seed, Sullivan North the No. 3 seed and Happy Valley the No. 4 speed.
If South Greene defeats HV along with a Cosby win over Hampton, the Rebels would take the No. 1 slot with HV taking the No. 2 seed. Hampton would fall to the No. 3 and Sullivan North would be the No. 4 in that scenario.
In Region 2-2A, the top two seeds are set as Meigs County will be the No. 1 and Onieda will be the No. 2. The winner of the Cumberland Gap and Rockwood game will earn the No. 3 seed with the loser taking the No. 4 seed.
In Region 1-4A, Elizabethton clinched the No. 1 seed with last week’s win over Sullivan South, while Greeneville will enter the playoffs as the No. 2. Sullivan South has also clinched the No. 3 seed, and the winner of Grainger-Union County will earn the fourth and final playoff spot.
In Region 2-4A, Anderson County has clinched the top seed, but that is the only seed clinched in the region. The winner of East Hamilton-Howard will be the No. 2 seed, while Hixson and East Ridge will compete for the final spot and a trip to Elizabethton to open the playoffs.
In Class A, the pairings are set for the first round for our local teams.
Cloudland claimed the No. 1 seed from Region 1-A and will host Region 2-A No. 4 Harriman in the first found. Unaka was the No. 4 seed from Region 1-A and will travel to Region 2-A Greenback.
Oliver Springs will host Jellico and Hancock County will host Coalfield in other first round pairings.
All playoff games are slated for 7 p.m., kicks.
