Three teams remain ranked in state poll

After nine weeks, Carter County still has three teams ranked in the AP Prep Football poll.

Elizabethton remained No. 4 in the Class 3A poll with 85 points. The Cyclones, who have won seven straight, are coming off a Friday shellacking of West Greene.


Alcoa was No. 1 in the poll with 12 of 13 first-place votes, while Sequatchie County and CAK rounded out the top three.

In Class 2A, Happy Valley and Hampton were ranked No. 8 and No. 10, respectively. The Warriors are coming off an overtime loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman as they fell from No. 4 to No. 8. Hampton held steady after rolling past South Greene. HV had 45 points and the Bulldogs had 22 points.

Adamsville was ranked No. 1 in the poll, while Marion County and Forrest held down the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.

Hampton is set to host North Greene on Thursday night, while Elizabethton will host Chuckey-Doak on Friday night. Happy Valley is traveling to Cumberland Gap on Friday night.
