Thursday Round-up: Rangers pull past HV; Lady Cyclones roll

Unaka 12, Happy Valley 2 (baseball)
The Rangers jumped out early to take a 12-2 win in a county clash.

Unaka put four runs on the board in the opening inning, but Happy Valley battled back to cut the deficit in half in the second. The Rangers, however, added three runs in the third and two more in the fourth to seize control of the game.

John Boy Ramsey limited HV to just three hits on the mound as he allowed just two earned runs with 11 strikeouts.

Davy Ensor was 4-for-5 at the plate, while Dakota Gallimore, Isaac Hill and John-Wesley Hardin had two hits apiece.

Luke Naylor went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI for the Warriors, while Hayden Holtsclaw also added a hit.

Michael Harrah was handed the loss for the Warriors.


Johnson County 14, Hampton 4 (baseball)
The Bulldogs saw the Longhorns erase an early lead en route to a win.

Hampton jumped out to a 4-2 advantage after two innings of play, but Johnson county reeled off 12 unanswered runs to take the win.

Dru Owens, Gavin Hardin, Dalton Rouse, Caleb Oaks, Landon Street and Hunter Davenport each had a hit for Hampton.

On the mound, Owens allowed just four earned runs on six hits but was handed the loss. Gavin Hardin and Devin Riddle also had strong showings in relief duty.

Elizabethton 10, Sullivan East 3 (Softball)
The Lady Cyclones kept on track on Thursday as Elizabethton slowly pulled away for another key Three Rivers Conference victory.

Lauren Brickey had a homerun to go along with an outstanding pitching performance as she allowed just three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.

Macie Herrman was 2-for-3 at the plate, while Maci West, Hannah Edwards and Brickey had two hits apiece.

Kaylin Shell, Kira Dillard and Bailey Creasy also added a hit apiece.
