Hampton 56, Unicoi County 53 (boys)
The Bulldogs took a tight nonconference win over Unicoi County.
The teams had a back-and-forth battle, and Hampton took care of business at the free throw line in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Jordan Bentley had 17 points. Garrett Vines tallied 12 points in the win, while Morgan Lyons added eight points to the Bulldog cause.
Cosby 52, Elizabethton 43 (boys)
The Cyclones were unable to hold off a hard charging Cosby squad on Tuesday night.
Elizabethton took a 17-10 lead after a quarter of play and held on to an 11-point advantage at the half. The short-handed Cyclones, however, were unable to stop a torrid Eagle attack in the fourth quarter as Cosby outscored EHS 19-2 in the final eight minutes to take the win.
William Willocks led Elizabethton with 16 points, while Donta Earnest had 10 points. Seth Carter and Nicholas Wilson had nine and eight points, respectively.
Elizabethton 56, Cosby 30 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones used a strong second half to pull away to roll to the road victory.
Elizabethton jumped out to a 21-12 lead in the first quarter, but Cosby trimmed the advantage to seven points at the half.
The Lady Cyclones saw Morgan Headrick have a huge third quarter as she powered EHS to a double-digit lead. In the fourth quarter, EHS outscored Cosby 15-2 to secure the win.
Lina Lyons had 15 points to lead the way. Headrick had 14 points, while Kaylen Shell had 11 points.
Unicoi County 55, Hampton 29 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to shake off a slow start in Erwin.
Unicoi County took a 15-2 lead in the first quarter, and Hampton was unable to recover despite a hard-fought effort.
The Lady Bulldogs saw Madison McClain, Hannah Collins, Skylar Hicks and Destini Milhorn record six points apiece.
