Tuesday Round-up: Key Wins Highlight Afternoon

Hampton 3, North Greene 2 (baseball)
The Bulldogs picked up an important district win on Tuesday in walk-off fashion.

After Landen Street pushed a bunt down the first base line, the NG pitcher had a throwing error which allowed Weston Street to record the game winning run.

Dalton Rouse pitched a complete game to get the win as he limited NG to just four hits.


Elizabethton 13, Happy Valley 3 (baseball)
The Cyclones jumped out early and never looked back to complete the series sweep over the Warriors.

Corey Russell led the way as he went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI for Elizabethton, while Evan Perkins added three RBI to the EHS cause. Ethan Eggleston was 3-for-3, while Logan Estep and Matthew Dailey added two hits apiece.

Bryce Carter went 2-for-2 to lead HV, while Jacob Asher recorded 2 RBI.

On the mound, Lawson Wagner picked up the win as he allowed just three runs on six hits in five innings of work.

Cloudland 12, Sullivan North 2 (softball)
Kenzie Birchfield pitched a gem to lead Cloudland to a district win. Birchfield, who also recorded a three-run homerun, allowed just two hits and one earned run with five strikeouts.

Rein Strickland also recorded a homerun for CHS.
Leah Birchfield was 4-for-4 at the plate. Gracie Freeman was also 3-for-4 for CHS.

Unaka 9, University High 0 (softball)
Corie Scheuttler struck out 15 batters and allowed just one hit as the Lady Ranger rolled to a district win on Tuesday evening.

Madison Ensor, Lilly Kiser, Erika Potter and Sarah Tipton had two hits apiece for Unaka. Sarah Elliot and Potter had two RBI a piece.

Other Lady Rangers recording a hit included Madison Pierce, Savannah Tipton, Sidney Markland and Elliott.

Unaka 5, Providence 1 (Baseball)
Unaka 6, Providence 2
John Ramsey threw a no-hitter as the Rangers picked up a nonconference doubleheader sweep of Providence. In the first game, Ramsey struck out eight batters and saw one unearned run go against him in five innings of work.

Dakota Gallimore was 2-for-2 at the plate.

In the second game, eight different Rangers recorded hits to power UHS to the win.

University High 15, Cloudland 0 (baseball)
The ‘Landers were unable to get anything going offensively as the Bucs picked up the series sweep.

CHS was held hitless by three UH pitchers in the five inning game.
