Carter County Sports

Elizabethton 57, Sullivan South 32 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones used a strong defensive effort to cruise to a Three Rivers win on Tuesday night.

Elizabethton pitched a shutout in the first quarter while four Lady Cyclones found the scorebook to give EHS a 9-0 lead.

The second quarter was much the same as the Lady Cyclones outscored the Lady Rebels 19-6 in the second to take a convincing lead into the half.

Any thought of a comeback was quickly erased in the third quarter as Elizabethton extended the lead to 36 points heading to the final quarter.

Torrie Roberts had 14 points to lead the way, while Lina Lyon scored 11 points. Morgan Headrick and Mckendra Norris had 10 and nine points, respectively.

Elizabethton 53, Sullivan South 45 (boys)
The Cyclones started out strong and then kept the Rebels at bay in the second half.

After EHS held a slim 9-8 lead after eight minutes of play, Elizabethton turned up the pressure as the Cyclones pushed their lead to double-digits at the break.

EHS led by as many as 17 in the second half before South started chewing away at the advantage. Jake Roberts, however, drained a 3-pointer to stop the South run after the Rebels had closed within five points with just under two minutes to play.

Roberts led Elizabethton with 17 points. Nick Wilson added 11 points, while William Willocks had 10 points.

Sullivan East 82, Happy Valley 64 (boys)
The Warriors were unable to keep pace with a hot Sullivan East offense on Tuesday night.

Happy Valley traded early shots with the Patriots on Warrior Hill before East ended the first quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 24-19 lead.

The run continued into the second quarter as the Patriots pushed the lead to 52-29 at the half.

Happy Valley continued to battle but was unable to make a rally in the second half.

Alex Lunceford had 28 points to lead the way, while Blake Young added 18 points.
