Tuesday Round-up: Lady Warriors Unable To Rally; Unaka’s Bowers Has Perfect Game



Unicoi County 7, Happy Valley 0 (softball)
The Lady Warriors were unable to break onto the board at Unicoi County.

Happy Valley saw Unicoi score single runs in the first and second innings and was unable to capitalize on base runners to even the score. Unicoi secured the win with five runs in the home side of the sixth.

Olivia Absher and Maddie Lingerfelt each tallied two hits for the Lady Warriors, while Abby Holt, Allie Grindstaff, and Blakelee Ollis each added a hit.

Unaka 16, University High 0 (softball)
Trinity Bowers pitched a perfect game to powder Unaka to a district win.

Bowers struck out nine batters and threw just 60 pitches in the game – with 46 of those being strikes.

She also had a strong day at the plate as she went 2-for-4.

Alana Parsons and Noelle Collins also had two hits and two RBI apiece for the Lady Rangers.

Elizabethton 9, Volunteer 0 (soccer)
The Cyclones cruised to a district win on Tuesday night.

Dawson May and Holston Howard scored two goals apiece to set the tone for the Orange and Black, while Skylar Jenkins, Riley Vernon, Kerry Williams, Clay Hopland and Tylar Jenkins each added goals of their own to the tally.

Middle School Golf
Happy Valley received solid rounds from Cayden Anderson (55) and Grace Holifield (58) at the Cattails at MeadowView, but was edged out in a three-team event.

On the boys’ side, Nick Bailey led the way with a 61, while Donovan Brower, Tyler Bailey, and Joel Shaffer all carded a 63 for the Warriors.
