Tuesday Roundup: Bulldogs, Warriors, Lady Cyclones win openers

Hampton 12, South Greene 0 (baseball)
The Bulldogs opened the season with a big win over former conference foe South Greene on Tuesday.
Dalton Rouse picked up the win on the mound with a masterful performance as he struck out 11 batters in the complete-game effort.

Gavin Hardin, Brett Deaton, Dru Owens and Josh Owens all had doubles in the win. J. Owens had three RBIs.


Happy Valley 12, Cloudland 2 (baseball)
The Warriors saw an offensive outburst carry them to their first win of the season over Cloudland.

HV tallied three runs in the second and three more in the third to get a healthy lead and never looked back.

Bryce Carter and Kevin Whitaker went 1-for-1 at the plate, while Jacob Absher and Hayden Holtsclaw went 1-for-2 for HV.

Colin Morgan had two RBIs for Cloudland with a homerun. Mark Tester was 2-for-2 at the plate.

Holtsclaw picked up the win on the mound for the Warriors as he allowed just two runs on five hits.

Elizabethton 8, Sullivan Central 0 (softball)
The Lady Cyclones had a successful season opener on Tuesday.

EHS opened the game with three runs in the top of the first and never looked back.

In the pitching circle, Kellie Cunningham threw a gem for the win. In a complete game effort, Cunningham allowed just two hits while striking out nine Central batters.

Macie Herrmann, Maci West and Hannah Edwards all had two hits for the Lady Cyclones.

Lauren Brickey and Haley Fair recorded two RBIs apiece.
