Warriors blast Rebels on senior night

Happy Valley celebrated senior night in style.

The Warriors cruised to a 69-6 win over South Greene on Warrior Hill to wrap up the regular season with a 9-1 record. With the win, the Warriors also clinched the Region 1-2A No. 1 seed.


HV left no doubt from the opening kick.

On the game’s opening drive, Sage Haun hit Brayden Sams for a 49-yard touchdown pass. The Micahel Harrah extra point gave HV a 7-0 lead.

After a Rebel three-and-out, Dylan Street scored on a 47-yard run, and then added a four-yard touchdown on the next HV series. Street increased the lead to 26-0 on a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown, and Dustun Sams converted the two-point conversion to give HV a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Austin Hicks opened the scoring in the second quarter with a two-yard touchdown run. Dylan Townsend got in the scoring act for the Warriors with a two-yard touchdown run. On the defensive side of the ball, Jacob Searcy nabbed an interception and took it 32 yards for a touchdown as HV took a 55-0 lead into the half.

The third quarter saw Haun connect with Sams for a 6-yard touchdown for the frame’s only score.

After the Warriors recorded a sack, Nick Colin took the free kick 51-yards for a touchdown. SG got on the board on the game’s final play as Levi Myer hit Nathan Hall for a 66-yard touchdown.

Dylan Street led the HV offense with 78 yards on four carries and touchdowns, while Austin Hicks had seven carries for 56 yards. Dustun Sams added 52 yards rushing, while Haun went 7-of-8 passing for 137 yards.

The Rebels saw Levi Myers went 7-of-16 passing for 98 yards in the game. Nathan Hall had 31 yards rushing on nine attempts, while adding two catches for 12 yards.
