Happy Valley was unable to extend the season on Thursday.
The Warriors dropped a hard-fought 11-5 decision to South Greene in the District 1-2A baseball tournament on Rebel Hill. The loss brings the Happy Valley season to end, while South Greene advanced into the double-elimination portion of the schedule.
HV took control early.
The Warrior bats were opened the game quickly as Andrew Little hit a single, and Tucker Shoun drove the run home to give HV a 1-0 lead.
Hunter Smith got on base with a single that scored Shoun, and Drew Blevins brought Smith home with a double to give HV a 3-0 lead after the top of the first.
Neither team was able to get back on the board until the bottom of the fifth when the Rebels offense came alive in a big way with 10 runs to take a 10-3 advantage into the sixth.
The Warriors continued to battle.
Happy Valley plated two runs in the top of the sixth as Little capitalized on a throwing error, and Shoun stole home plate.
The rally, however, was unable to continue.
Little was 2-for-4 to lead HV at the plate.
