Happy Valley came up short in their quest for the No. 1 seed on Friday night.
The Warriors dropped a 25-6 decision to South Greene on Rebel Hill in Region 1-2A action, and falls to the No. 4 seed in the upcoming playoffs. HV will open the playoffs on the road at Meigs County.
Against the Rebels, it was a tight battle from the opening kick.
South Greene took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Happy Valley got into SG territory midway through the second quarter as Will Tittle hit Ty Pierce for a 30-yard completion, but were unable to break onto the scoreboard as the Rebels maintained a 12-0 advantage at the half.
In the third quarter, Happy Valley ran three plays and punted and it would be the only time the Warriors touched the ball in the period. Luke Myers scored on a five-yard run to cap off the lengthy drive on the first play of the fourth quarter.
On the next HV drive, Tittle had an impressive 33-yard run on a fourth-and-18 to keep the drive alive, and then the Warriors got on the board as Matthew Bahn escaped for a three-yard touchdown run.
That, however, was as close as the Warriors would get before time expired.
Will Tittle led the way for the Warrior offense as he had 101 yards. The Warriors finished with 159 total yards.
South Greene saw Mark Crum finish with 156 yards to lead the way.
