Happy Valley came up short on the road Friday night.
The Warriors dropped a 35-6 decision to Unicoi County in nonconference action at Gentry Stadium.
Unicoi – who improved to 4-0 on the year – jumped out quick as Nehemiah Edwards scored on the game’s first play of scrimmage for a 63-yard touchdown.
The Warriors were unable to get anything going on their first drive of the night, and an errant snap on the punt sailed through the endzone for a Blue Devil safety.
Unicoi struck quickly on the ensuing possession to take a 15-0 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Happy Valley continued to battle, but trailed 15-0 after a quarter of play.
After UC pushed the lead to 22-0 in the second stanza, the Warriors came up with an interception.
That set up a three-yard touchdown from Andrew Little as HV trimmed the deficit to 16 points.
However, Unicoi used a methodical drive to take a 28-6 lead into the half and stop any thoughts of a Warrior rally.
Unicoi added a touchdown midway through the third to cap the scoring.
The Warriors return to action next Friday as Hampton visits Warrior Hill for a crucial Region 1-2A contest.
