Happy Valley was unable to get back on the winning side of things Friday night.

The Warriors dropped a 31-14 decision to Unicoi County in nonconference play on Warrior Hill. With the loss, HV falls to 1-2 on the season.

The first quarter saw HV strike first as Eli Ayers broke free for a 29-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful.

Unicoi, however, answered the bell as Brock Thompson found Evan Huff for a 43-yard touchdown as the Blue Devils took a 7-6 lead into the second quarter.

UC added 10 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 17-6 lead into the half.

After the Blue Devils opened the scoring in the third, Happy Valley didn’t go without a fight as Matthew Bahn scored on a 17-yard run.

The Warriors, however, were unable to continue the rally.

Ayers went 10-for-12 passing, while Bahn had 30 carries for 159 yards.

Happy Valley is set to return to action next Friday as Cosby comes to Warrior Hill.
