The Happy Valley football team was unable to pick up a key road win on Friday night.

The Warriors were unable to overcome four turnovers in a. 24-14 loss at Sullivan North in Region 1-2A action.

The loss drops HV to 6-2 on the season and 2-1 in region action.

Points were hard to come by all night.

Happy Valley got on the board first as Jordan Campbell scored on a one-yard touchdown run as HV took a 7-0 lead with just under nine minutes to play in the first quarter.

North, however, answered with a 79-yard drive that saw Yancey Dolen score and the Raiders added the two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead after a quarter of play.

Neither team was able to get anything going in the second quarter as the Warriors saw two drives deep in North territory come to a stop due to turnovers. The Raiders maintained an 8-7 advantage at the half.

In the third quarter, the Warriors regained the lead with just under three minutes left in the quarter as Ty Pierce caught an Eli Ayers’ pass for a 12-yard touchdown as HV took a 14-8 lead into the final quarter.

The final quarter went Sullivan North’s way as the Raiders scored twice in the quarter to secure the win – including the go-ahead touchdown with 8:56 left in the contest.

HV returns to Warrior Hill next Friday as Trinity Academy comes to town.
