Wednesday Round-up: Cyclones Take Win; Lady Cyclones, Lady Bulldogs Fall On The Road

Elizabethton 4, Unicoi County 2
The Cyclones jumped out early and outlasted Unicoi on Wednesday afternoon.

EHS scored two runs in the first as Kaleb Hambrick and Peyton Johnson touched home plate as EHS took a 2-0 lead.

Unicoi got a run back in the top of the third, but Cade Russell and Zak Workman scored off a Jack Farris hit in the bottom of the fourth to extend the EHS lead.

Johnson struck out eight batters on the mound to pick up the win as he allowed just one earned run on three hits in a near complete-game effort.

Hambrick was 2-for-3 for EHS, while Johnson, Russell, and Farris each added a hit.

Softball
Carter 9, Elizabethton 5
The Lady Cyclones rallied to take the lead in the fifth, but Carter was able to answer to secure the win.

After Carter held a 4-0 lead after four complete innings, the Elizabethton bats got going with five runs in the top of the fifth. Carter, however, answered with three runs in the home side of the frame and two more in the sixth to secure the win.

Maddie O’Quinn was 2-for-4 at the plate, to lead Elizabethton, while six Lady Cyclones tallied a hit apiece.

Madisun Pritchard and O’Quinn had two RBI apiece, while Kenidy Harris added one.

Pritchard struck out six batters.

Johnson County 12, Hampton 2
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to overcome a quick Johnson County start.

Johnson County took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and despite a hard fought-Hampton effort, the Lady Bulldogs were unable to rally.

Lacey Smith was 2-for-2 at the plate and scored a run for the Blue and White, while Rachel Fair also crossed home plate.
