As we enter the final week of the regular season, eyes are turning to the playoffs. We take a look at possible scenarios for county teams.

Class A

The line-up for Region 1-A is set as Cloudland captured the No. 1 seed after their third straight Region 1-A title. Jellico and Hancock County are slotted at No. 2 and No. 3. Unaka is ineligible for the playoffs this season giving the Region 2-A top-seed a bye in the first-round.

In Region 2-A, the top two seeds are set as Greenback will be No. 1 and Coalfield will be No. 2. Midway and Oliver Springs will be the other two teams representing Region 2-A, but the order will depend on results on Friday night.

Should Midway win, they will be slotted at No. 3 with Oliver Springs at No. 4. If Sunbright and Oliver Springs win on Friday night or if Unaka and Oliver Springs win, the order will be flipped with Oliver Springs being the No. 3 team and Midway being No. 4.

Cloudland will host the No. 4 seed from Region 2-A in the opening round and with a win will face the winner of the Coalfield/Hancock County game.

The ‘Landers have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.

Class 2A

In Region 1-2A, only one spot is locked into place as Sullivan North will be the No. 1 seed.

With a Happy Valley win over South Greene along with a Cosby win on Friday night, HV will claim the No. 2 spot, Cosby taking the No. 3 seed and Hampton taking the No. 4 spot. With Hampton win over Cosby, Happy Valley will be slotted at No. 2, Hampton at No. 3 and South Greene at No. 4.

If South Greene and Cosby pick up victories, South Greene would jump to the No. 2 spot with HV falling to the No. 3 seed and Cosby taking the No. 4 slot.

Region 2-A knows the four teams that will represent in the playoffs, but not the order after top-seed Meigs County as the final three will hinge on the result of the Cumberland Gap vs. Rockwood game on Friday night.

With a Cumberland Gap win, Gap will take the No. 2 spot with Rockwood and Oneida being seeded No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. A Rockwood victory will seed the Tigers in the No. 2 spot with Oneida at No. 3 and Cumberland Gap at No. 4.

Class 4A

In Region 1-4A, the top three teams are set as Greeneville will be the No. 1 seed, Elizabethton will be the No. 2 seed and Sullivan South being slotted as the No. 3 seed. Should Union County and Sullivan East pick up wins on Friday night, Sullivan East will be the No. 4 seed. All other scenarios will place Grainger in the No. 4 spot with the Patriots on the outside looking in.

In Region 2-4A, Anderson County and Chattanooga Central have locked down the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively. East Hamilton, Sequoyah and East Ridge are fighting for the last two spots in the playoff field with a wide array of scenarios to determine the final two teams.

Brackets for the playoffs will be set on Friday night. Be sure to check back with Carter County Sports for the latest.
