The Cyclones came out firing on all cylinders on Friday night.

Elizabethton took a 12-2 victory over Happy Valley in the District 1-AA Tournament at Cardinal Park. With the win, Elizabethton advances in the winners’ bracket to take on Sullivan East at noon on Saturday, while the Warriors will take on Sullivan South in an elimination game at 5 p.m.

In the first frame, Happy Valley picked up where they left off on Thursday night.

The Warriors plated two runs in the top of the first as Nolan Easlic hit a single to plate Will Hampton, and Jacob Absher pushed Easlic across home plate on a sacrifice fly. That gave HV a 2-0 lead after the first three outs.

Elizabethton, however, responded in the home side of the inning. Ethan Eggleston scored on a passed ball and Elizabethton took the lead when Evan Carter scored on a passed ball along with Evan Perkins scored Corey Russell with a double. The Cyclones took a 4-2 lead into the second after Matthew Dailey’s single scored Colten Miller.

Russell added to the EHS lead in the bottom of the second as he hit a triple that scored two runs, and the Cyclones added four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 10-2 advantage. Elizabethton added another run in the bottom of the sixth.

Russell and Perkins were 2-for-3 for Elizabethton, while Nico Ashley, Nick Johnson and Dailey had one hit a piece.

Easlic was 2-for-3 for Happy Valley, while Landon Morefield and Hampton had a hit each.

Tre Shoun got the win on the mound as he allowed one earned run on three hits. Hayden Holtsclaw was handed the loss despite allowing just one earned run on two hits.
