Bulldogs climb a spot, Lady Cyclones hold steady

The Bulldogs climbed a spot and the Lady Cyclones stayed in familiar territory in this week’s AP Tennessee Prep Basketball poll.

Elizabethton remained No. 1 in the Class AA girls poll, while Hampton jumped to the No. 9 spot in the Class A boys poll.

Hampton picked up wins over Cloudland and Unaka last week to move to 15-6 on the season. The Bulldogs, who were ranked No. 10 last week, tallied 29 points in the poll to move up a spot. Halls and Mitchell remained ranked in the top two spots, while Clay County, Huntland and Union City rounded out the top five.

The Lady Cyclones continued to be an unanimous No. 1 selection with 15 first-place votes. Elizabethton picked up impressive wins over Sullivan North and Sullivan South last week to move to 22-0.

McMinn Central and Westview rounded out the top three.

Hampton will travel to North Greene on Tuesday, while the Lady Cyclones will make the trip to Sullivan East.
