Hampton took care of Cumberland Gap on Friday night.
The Bulldogs methodically pulled away to take a 42-0 win at Cumberland Gap.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 5-1 on the season.
Hampton’s defense forced a three-and-out on the opening drive of the game, and the Bulldog offense took advantage of the momentum as Levi Lunsford scored on a two-yard run.
Lunsford found the endzone in the final minute of the quarter from 16 yards out as the Bulldogs took a 13-0 lead into the second stanza.
Neither team was able to get back on the board until Broady Hicks scored on a 20-yard run for Hampton. Morgan Lyons added the two-point conversion that allowed HHS to take a 21-0 lead into the half.
Hampton struck quickly to open the second half.
Hicks picked up the opening kickoff of the second half and raced 75 yards for the touchdown, and the Michael Harrison extra point gave the Bulldogs a 28-0 lead 16 seconds into the third quarter.
Lyons added to the Hampton lead late in the quarter with an 18-yard touchdown run as the Bulldogs maintained a 35-0 lead after three complete quarters.
In the final quarter, Hicks caught a 45-yard touchdown pass to cap the scoring for the Bulldogs.
Hampton is set to return to action on Thursday evening for Homecoming and Senior Night at JC Campbell Stadium against Unaka.
