Hampton took care of business on the road Friday night.
The Bulldogs picked up a 30-12 victory over Cosby in Region 1-A play. With the win, Hampton clinched at least a share of the Region 1-A title and can win it outright with a win over Cloudland.
Hampton was able to get to the goal line in the first quarter, but Cosby turned the Bulldogs away as the first quarter ended scoreless.
After Cosby took the lead with a short run by Gage McCarty, Hampton answered as Isaiah Belcher scored on a four-yard run. Belcher added the two-point conversion to give Hampton an 8-6 lead late in the quarter. The Bulldogs pushed the lead to 16-6 at the half as Connor McKinney scored on a six-yard run and Peyton Townsend added the two-point conversion.
Cosby trimmed the lead to four points early in the third, but Hampton countered on a fourth-and-goal with a short Belcher touchdown run.
HHS led 24-12 after three complete quarters, after the Bulldog defense held strong on a fourth-and-goal late in the quarter.
Belcher added his third touchdown of the night with a one-yard run to account for the final score.
Belcher finished the night with 18 carries for 114 yards, while McKinney had 13 carries for 84 yards and went 5-of-7 passing for 119 yards. Townsend added 16 carries for 98 yards.
Brock Shelby had catches for 65 yards.
