It was all Hampton on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs rolled to a 62-0 win over Hancock County in Region 1-A play on Senior Night on Warrior Hill. Hampton improved to 7-1 overall with the win, and continues to control its own destiny in Region 1-A play with a 5-0 mark.
It didn’t take long for the Bulldogs to jump out front.
Maddux Wilson caught the opening kick and raced 61 yards for a touchdown, and Connor McKinney scored on a 63-yard run as Hampton took an early 16-0 lead. Isaiah Belcher added a 20-yard run, while Brody Lambert pushed the advantage out with a short scoring run after the Hampton defense recovered a fumble.
Peyton Townsend scored late in the first quarter as the Bulldogs led 38-0 entering the second quarter.
Eli Henson forced a bad Hancock throw, and Belcher took advantage and scored on a 24-yard pick-six early in the second. Hampton saw Jayden Kuhn and Gabe Vines add touchdowns as the Bulldogs led 62-0 at the half.
Hampton recorded 494 yards of total offense – including 421 on the ground. The Bulldog defense was lights out by holding the Indians to (-41) yards of rushing and a total of 0 offensive yards.
Belcher led the way with five carries for 92 yards.
McKinney had four carries for 87 yards and also went 5-of-6 passing for 73 yards. Kaden Jones added eight carries for 79 yards.
Peyton Townsend finished with 44 yards.
