Bulldogs win tight battle in Mountain City; Lady Bulldogs fall

It was a thrilling win for the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Hampton held off Johnson County for a 72-71 victory in Mountain City on Tuesday night in nonconference action. In the girls’ game, the Lady Bulldogs fell 51-17.


In the boys’ game, Hampton took control early.

The Bulldogs pushed the lead to eight points at the end of the first quarter, but the Longhorns trimmed the advantage throughout the second quarter. Hampton maintained a 40-34 lead at the half.

In the second half, the teams traded shots as neither was able to get any real separation as Hampton sealed the game in the closing minutes.

Jordan Bentley led the Bulldogs with 18 points, while Caleb Oaks had 13 points. Matt Hughes tallied 12 points. Conor Jones and Garrett Vines had ten and nine points, respectively.

In the girls’ game, Hampton was unable to get the offense going.

The Lady Bulldogs stayed within striking distance in the first quarter, but a two-point second quarter was too much to overcome.

Linsey Jenkins had five points to lead the way for Hampton.
