Cloudland Advances Past Hampton In District 1-A Tournament

Cloudland set the tone on Monday.

The Lady ‘Landers used a stingy pitching performance by Karah Fields to take a 10-0 victory over Hampton in the opening round of the District 1-A Softball Tournament.

With the win, Cloudland advances to the semifinals where they will take on North Greene at 7:30p Tuesday at Legion Field in Greeneville.

The tournament is single elimination.

Monday’s game started in light rain, but that didn’t slow down the Cloudland bats.

CHS scored three runs in the bottom of the first and second innings to take a 6-0 lead. Hampton looked to get something going as Sarah Orr led off the third inning with a single, but the Lady Bulldogs were unable to get bring the runner across home plate.

Cloudland was led by Heaven Caraway’s two hits. Fields allowed just one hit in the game with 10 strikeouts.

Orr had the lone hit for Hampton, and Cheyenne Fair had a solid showing in the pitching circle for Hampton.
