Cloudland celebrated Homecoming 2025 in a big way.
The ‘Landers took control early and rolled to a 56-8 Region 1-A victory over Sunbright on Friday night at Orr Field. With the win, Cloudland improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in Region 1-A action.
Bryce Birchfield led the way as he had 12 carries for 115 yards with two touchdowns and also added a 50-yard passing touchdown. Grayson Cole had 87 yards on six carries with a touchdown, while Landon Barnette added two touchdowns and 77 yards on five carries as well as caught a 50-yard touchdown.
Walker Gouge finished with three carries and 61 yards and a touchdown, along with a defensive score.
As a team, Cloudland rolled to 342 yards on the ground.
Birchfield opened the scoring as CHS quickly moved down the field on the opening drive, as the senior scored on a 13-yard run and added the two-point conversion.
Grayson Cole scored on the next CHS drive, and Birchfield added the two-point conversion.
Gouge struck on defense as the senior picked up a backwards pass and returned it 38 yards for a scoop and score to give CHS a 22-0 lead after a quarter of play.
The ‘Landers kept rolling in the second.
Barnette added a 14-yard rushing touchdown before catching a 50-yard pass from Birchfield for a touchdown. Birchfield added a short score and kicked an extra point to give Cloudland a 43-7 halftime lead.
Cloudland went to work quickly in the second half as Barnetted scored on a one-yard run.
After Sunbright broke onto the board, Gouge scored on a 46-yard run to cap the scoring.
