Cloudland Comes Up Short To North Greene In District 1-A Tournament Winner’s Bracket Final

Cloudland came up short on Tuesday evening.

The Lady ‘Landers fell 10-3 to North Greene in the Winners Bracket Finale in the District 1-A Tournament at North Greene.

Cloudland moves into Wednesday’s elimination game against the winner of Tuesday’s Unaka and University High with a spot in Wednesday night’s Championship game on the line.

The Lady Huskies struck early as Hannah Brooks pushed Matti Phillips and Loren Blevins across home plate, and Brooks scored off a Heidi Trentham single.

Cloudland bounced back in the top of the second as Reagan Turbyfill reached via error and then moved around the bases before scoring on a wild pitch to trim the NG lead to 3-1.

Neither team was able to get on the board until Turbyfill hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth as Cloudland closed the gap to 3-2. North Greene got a run back in the fourth as Kennedy Malone scored but Cloudland was able to limit the damage with the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the fifth, Jayla Harper hit a one-out triple to get into the scoring position and then scored after Savannah McCoury put the ball in play. That cut the gap to 4-3 going to the sixth.

The Lady Huskies, however, plated six runs in the home side of the inning to secure the win.

Turbyfill was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Harper had a hit. S. McCoury had an RBI.

For North Greene, Brooks struck out 10 batters allowed one earned run on three hits, and also recorded four RBI at the plate. Trentham had two hits and four RBI.
